The Recipe

2 c Sifted all-purpose flour

1 ts Baking powder

1/2 ts Soda

1/2 ts Salt

2 ts Ginger

1/2 ts Allspice

1/2 ts Cinnamon

1/2 c Shortening; soft

1/2 c Brown sugar, firmly packed

2 Eggs

1/2 c Light molasses

1 c Cooked oatmeal, cooled*

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices into bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cooky sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 F.) 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cooky sheets; cool. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired. *NOTE: Cook Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) according to package directions.
